One night I was at a restaurant with my boyfriend, when I asked him what he was going to order he declared, "I'm going to have to starve because I can't read the menu!" This is when I was reminded of a magnifying glass necklace my grandmother had worn. It was beautiful but looked like something a 'little old lady' would wear. I often lose track of time, this may be why I still feel like I am somewhere around the ripe old age of fourteen. When I am immersed in something I love - time is illusive, I am uncertain if I am looking back, looking forward, or into 'The Looking Glass'. When I was around the bright eyed age of twenty one, I left art college before completing my degree and jumped at an opportunity to assist an Art Director for national television commercials. Now decades later, I have become an Art Director, designing hundreds of environments, working with multitudes of materials, colors and textures. I have hand chosen objects from all over the globe and in doing so I have developed the ability to feel and read energy. Traveling the world has also brought out my gypsy spirit. I love collecting charms, crystals and stones, and I enjoy studying their metaphysical properties. Since my eyes are my window to the world, it’s important for me to see all the fine details, however it can be difficult to read the 'small type' printed from digital devices. It's so tiny, I often wonder is it even meant to be seen by the naked eye? I decided I needed to make an artistic and contemporary version of my grandmothers necklace. This became my first Looking Glass. I called it 'The Alchemist', a piece of functional jewelry that would also magnify the metaphysical qualities of the charms and crystals I love. At the same time I made a masculine version with a Black Agate for my boyfriend, I called it 'The Shaman'. I continue to make new styles to increase clarity of vision and uniquely express the energy of all ages and all types of people - and even our beloved pets!
